APT Sources were sourcing some very old and hard to get components for one of our lighting products for us when they asked the question “are we able to look at a redesign to bring the product to a modern standard in SMD technology?” We said we can have a look at it. About 2 weeks later APT Sources came back to us with a cost to produce a small run of prototypes including design files, Bill of materials and a production cost if we were to move forward with a new design. We then placed the order for 20 prototype boards, what we got back were 20 boards one third the size they uses to be but still mountable in our equipment which meant no additional cost. They worked first time were designed with all the regulatory parameters and thus passing the approvals process first time. We then placed a production order and the rest is history.
